About Borghesia

Borghesia were the other defining act of the 1980s Ljubljana alternative scene that produced Laibach. Founded in 1982 and tied to the Neue Slowenische Kunst circle, they made dance-floor industrial and EBM with explicitly political and queer lyrics, decades before that became a mainstream stance. Their cassette and 12-inch releases circulated internationally on Play It Again Sam and Wax Trax, and they remain the band that proved Ljubljana could speak the same language as Berlin, Brussels, and New York.
