About Ahmet Kaya
Ahmet Kaya was a singer-songwriter whose work joined Turkish folk instrumentation, arabesque feeling, and politically direct lyrics. Singing from a Turkish-Kurdish background, he gave voice to displacement, imprisonment, working-class life, and personal loss. His recordings became central to Turkey's protest-song tradition and retained a vast audience after his death in exile.
