Songs for life. Thailand's protest-folk and roots-rock tradition, born from the student movement of the 1970s and the October 1976 massacre. Caravan founded the form on the album Khon Kab Khwai with songs that fused American folk-rock with traditional Thai melody. Carabao broadened it into stadium rock in the 1980s with Made in Thailand, an album that sold five million copies and became the defining Thai rock record. The genre still soundtracks every union rally and student march.
