X Japan

À propos de X Japan

Founded in Chiba in 1982 by Yoshiki and Toshi, X Japan invented visual kei by combining American hair-metal aesthetics with classical piano writing and an emotional ballad sensibility entirely their own. Their 1989 album Blue Blood sold over half a million copies and their 1993 follow-up Art of Life remains a touchstone of Japanese progressive rock. Guitarist hide died in 1998 and the band went on hiatus, but they have reunited periodically since 2007 and remain Japan's most influential rock band internationally.
