Essex-formed trio (later quartet) led by Liam Howlett whose 1996-97 run produced two of the era's most aggressive crossover singles, Firestarter and Breathe, and the album The Fat of the Land which went straight to number one across most of the world. Keith Flint's frontman performance and the band's hardcore-rave-meets-rock sound made them one of the few UK electronic acts to fill stadiums. Flint died in 2019.
