Brisbane indie-rock band built around the Robert Forster / Grant McLennan songwriting partnership. Cattle and Cane (1983) is one of the most-loved Australian songs of the 1980s; 16 Lovers Lane (1988) is the band's commercial peak. The Go-Betweens split in 1989, reformed in 2000, and effectively ended when McLennan died in 2006.
