The sitar virtuoso who introduced Indian classical music to the Western world. Ravi Shankar's collaboration with George Harrison, his performance at the Concert for Bangladesh, and his influence on the 1960s counterculture made him the most internationally recognized Indian musician of the 20th century. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.
