À propos de Oumou Sangaré
Songbird of Wassoulou and the singer who turned a regional pentatonic hunter-music tradition into one of West Africa's most internationally recognised genres. Her 1989 debut Moussolou sold over 200,000 cassettes across West Africa and confronted forced marriage and polygamy in lyrics; she has spent four decades using her position to advocate for women's rights and to mentor a generation of younger Malian women including Fatoumata Diawara. Won the Grammy for Best World Music Album in 2011 with her Imagine collaboration.
