Monica Zetterlund was Sweden's most celebrated jazz singer and a gifted actress. She recorded with Bill Evans on the 1964 album Waltz for Debby and brought a distinctly Swedish phrasing to the jazz songbook. Her version of Sakta vi gar genom stan, a Swedish lyric set to Walking My Baby Back Home, became a standard of the national repertoire. She died in a 2005 apartment fire, and her life was later retold in a feature film that introduced her artistry to a new generation.
