À propos de Jan Garbarek

Jan Garbarek is the most internationally recognised European jazz musician of the past half-century and the defining voice of the Nordic ECM sound. Born in Mysen to a Norwegian mother and a Polish father, he developed a keening, folk-inflected saxophone tone that became inseparable from the spacious, reverb-rich ECM aesthetic. His 1994 album Officium, recorded with the early-music vocal group the Hilliard Ensemble, sold more than a million copies and crossed jazz into the classical and ambient mainstream. He has recorded with Keith Jarrett, Mari Boine, and the Hilliard Ensemble across a six-decade career.
