Gordon Lightfoot was the Orillia, Ontario singer-songwriter whose baritone and acoustic-12-string canon defined the 1960s and 1970s Canadian folk wave alongside Joni Mitchell and Neil Young. If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown, and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald became standards of North American songwriting. He continued to tour into his eighties and released his final album Solo in 2020.
