À propos de Genoa Keawe

Affectionately known as Aunty Genoa, she was the undisputed queen of Hawaiian falsetto and a mainstay of the islands' music for more than sixty years. Her joyful leo kiʻekiʻe voice, famous for holding a single note for minutes at a time on her signature 'Alika', made her a beloved icon. She performed weekly in Waikiki almost until her death in 2008 and mentored generations of Hawaiian singers. She received an honorary doctorate from the University of Hawaiʻi in 2005.
