Bikini are the Budapest new wave act that became a national rock institution. Formed in 1982 around bassist Alajos D. Nagy and singer Lajos D. Nagy, their first run of albums between 1983 and 1989 captured the louche, ironic side of late-socialist Hungary. "Mielőtt elmegyek" and "Adj helyet" became the Magyar canon's reliable late-night ballads; the band's later catalogue carried the sound into the 2010s through a series of full-band reunions and arena tours.
