Aldous Harding emerged from the Lyttelton folk scene around Marlon Williams and released her self-titled debut in 2014. Her 2017 album Party and 2019's Designer, both produced by John Parish, established her as one of the strangest and most disciplined art-pop singers working anywhere, and the 2019 single The Barrel and its surrealist video became a cult crossover.
