Tamburica
Über Tamburica
Tamburica is the string-band tradition of Slavonia, Croatia's eastern plains, built around the long-necked tambura lute in every size from tiny bisernica to booming berde. Village ensembles carried it for over a century before Miroslav Škoro and Zlatni Dukati modernized it in the late 1980s and 1990s, when tamburica anthems became emotional shorthand for homeland. It remains the sound of Slavonian weddings, harvest festivals, and the diaspora.
