Aotearoa's Pacific reggae and dub tradition, born in the late 1970s when Herbs brought roots reggae together with Polynesian harmony and political content. The sound became central to Māori and Pasifika identity through the 1980s and was reinvented in the 2000s by Fat Freddy's Drop's dub-soul collective and Six60's stadium-pop translation.
