George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley's 1982-86 duo defined mid-80s British pop. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Last Christmas, and Careless Whisper (technically a George Michael solo single) all came out of the Wham! era. The breakup launched George Michael's solo career, which carried his songwriting into the 1990s and 2000s; he died on Christmas Day 2016.
