Tcheka is one of the most acclaimed contemporary Cape Verdean singer-guitarists, the son of a batuku violinist from Ribeira da Barca on Santiago. His restless, percussive guitar style and intimate voice reinvent batuku and morna for a modern audience, earning international festival acclaim and BBC world music recognition. He is a central figure of the islands' 21st-century acoustic songwriting.
