David Gordon Kirkpatrick, the foundational figure of Australian country music. A Pub With No Beer (1957) sold over a million copies and remains Australia's all-time best-selling single. Slim Dusty recorded over 100 albums across a 60-year career; in 1988 he became the first artist whose song was played from the moon, when astronauts broadcast Pub With No Beer back to Earth. He died in 2003.
