Sally Nyolo sang with Zap Mama before going solo and building a catalogue that treats bikutsi as a writing tradition rather than a dance format. Multiculti, released in 1998, works the genre's cross-rhythms into songs in Eton and French. She records with acoustic textures and layered vocal parts where the electric bands used guitars. She has kept a foot in both Yaoundé and Paris throughout.
