Über Richard Bona

Richard Bona is the most decorated Cameroonian instrumentalist of the past thirty years. He grew up in Minta playing balafon before moving to bass, and has since worked with Joe Zawinul, Pat Metheny, Harry Belafonte and Salif Keita as well as leading his own groups. He sings in Duala over the bass lines, which keeps his jazz recognisably Cameroonian rather than American. Dina Lam comes from Munia, released in 2003.
