Granddaughter of Lord Shorty, the man who invented soca, and the clearest new voice in the form. Sokah, released in 2017, took its title from her grandfather's original name for the music and announced her at nineteen. Her writing pulls soca toward afrobeats and pop without leaving Carnival behind. She works constantly across the region, including with the Vincentian artist Skinny Fabulous.
