Muddy Waters carried the Mississippi Delta blues to Chicago and plugged it in. His 1950s Chess recordings with Little Walter and Willie Dixon defined electric blues, and the Rolling Stones took their name from one of his songs. Every blues-rock band since owes him a debt.
