Singer who works with Persian and Kurdish song from a base in Norway, having left Iran where women cannot perform solo for a general audience. She has recorded extensively with her sister Mahsa and with the Kronos Quartet, who arranged a traditional Kurdish song with her in 2019. Her catalogue is built around setting Persian poetry, classical and contemporary, for international audiences. The work is deliberately unflattened: the regional identity of each song stays visible.
