One of Germany's biggest stadium rock acts, Westernhagen filled arenas alongside Grönemeyer during the Deutschrock era. His 1987 anthem 'Freiheit' became an unofficial soundtrack to German reunification, played at celebrations across the country as the Berlin Wall fell.
