Lucha Reyes, known as La Morena de Oro del Perú, was one of the most powerful and emotive voices in música criolla. An Afro-Peruvian singer who rose from humble beginnings, she poured raw feeling into vals and polka despite lifelong illness. Her anthem Regresa and the defiant Mi Última Canción made her a national icon, and her early death at 37 sealed her legend as a symbol of criollo passion.
