Les Parents du Campus put zouglou on record. Formed by Didier Bilé and other students at the university in Abidjan, the group took the chanted complaint songs of campus life and gave them a studio shape. Gboglo Koffi, released in 1991, is the recording every later zouglou act traces back to. The group did not last long, but the form it fixed carried the next thirty years of Ivorian popular music.
