K-Tino, who recorded as Catino on her early albums, came up singing in Yaoundé bars and with the band Les Zombies de la Capitale before becoming one of the biggest bikutsi stars of her generation. Her lyrics, sexually explicit under a veil of Ewondo wordplay, drew regular criticism in the Cameroonian press. In 2014 she said she had stopped making that music and turned to religion.
