Ildo Lobo was one of Cape Verde's most respected male voices, a singer of morna and coladeira prized for his precision and dignity. He first rose to prominence fronting the group Os Tubarões before a celebrated solo career crowned by the 2004 album Incondicional. His death that same year cut short a late creative peak, and he is remembered as a guardian of the classic Cape Verdean songbook.
