Salsa orchestra founded in 1980 by songwriter Jairo Varela, the group most identified with Cali's status as a salsa capital. Varela's sharp arrangements and lyrics about the city produced classics like 'Cali Pachanguero' and 'Una Aventura' that remain dancefloor staples across Latin America. After Varela's death in 2012 the group continued under his legacy. Grupo Niche is one of the most successful salsa acts in history.
