Gims, formerly Maître Gims, rose from the Paris rap collective Sexion d'Assaut to become the most commercially successful French artist of the streaming era. Bella and Sapés comme jamais made him a pan-francophone star in the 2010s, and in 2025 he held the top three most-streamed singles in France, led by Ciel, while Le Nord se souvient was the year's best-selling album.
