Fruko y sus Tesos

Über Fruko y sus Tesos

Band led by bassist and producer Julio Ernesto Estrada, nicknamed Fruko, who pioneered hard-edged salsa in Colombia from the early 1970s. Working out of Discos Fuentes in Medellín, he built a distinctly Colombian salsa dura sound and launched the careers of singers like Joe Arroyo and Wilson Manyoma. 'El Preso' became one of the most enduring salsa anthems in Latin America. Fruko is widely credited as a founding father of Colombian salsa.
