Über Fernando Villalona
Fernando Villalona, El Mayimbe, is one of the most beloved voices in Dominican music, a singer whose warmth made merengue feel like home. He broke through as a teenager in the 1970s and spent the 1980s producing anthems of national pride, most famously Dominicano Soy, which functions as an unofficial second anthem for Dominicans abroad. Decades on, Tabaco y Ron still opens the dancing at Dominican weddings everywhere.
