Femi Kuti carried his father Fela's afrobeat into a new era. A bandleader and saxophonist who came up playing in Egypt 80, he built his own group, the Positive Force, and his own Lagos venue, the New Afrika Shrine. His tighter, faster afrobeat and continued social commentary have earned multiple Grammy nominations and kept the family torch burning.
