Félix Leclerc
1914–1988
Über Félix Leclerc
Félix Leclerc invented modern chanson québécoise. Born in La Tuque in 1914, he was the first Québécois singer-songwriter to be embraced by Paris, where his 1950 concerts at the ABC theatre established a francophone song tradition outside France. His simple guitar-and-voice songs of country life, exile, and quiet politics became the template every Quebec songwriter has worked from since.
