Über DDT

DDT was founded in Ufa in 1980 by singer and songwriter Yuri Shevchuk, who remains the band's only original member. After years of underground concerts and pressure from Soviet authorities, the group relocated to Leningrad and grew into one of the biggest rock bands in the country. The 1992 album Aktrisa Vesna, dedicated to Shevchuk's late wife, contains the ballad Chto takoye osen, one of the best known songs in Russian rock. DDT still records and tours, releasing the album Tvorchestvo v pustote in 2021.
