Über Che Fu

Che Fu, of Niuean and Māori descent, fronted the Auckland funk band Supergroove before launching a solo career in 1998. His 2001 album Navigator and the single Misty Frequencies won six Tui awards, including Album of the Year, and lifted Aotearoa hip-hop into the New Zealand pop mainstream. He remains a touchstone for every New Zealand rapper and R&B singer of Pasifika descent who followed.
