BoA debuted in 2000 as a teenager under SM Entertainment and became one of K-pop's earliest cross-border stars. She was the first Korean singer to break through commercially in Japan, where her 2002 album Listen to My Heart topped the Oricon chart. Fluent in Korean, Japanese, and English, she built a career spanning all three markets and is often called the Queen of K-pop. She has continued releasing music into the 2020s while also working as an executive and producer at SM.
