Über Binomio de Oro

Vallenato group founded in 1976 by singer Rafael Orozco and accordionist Israel Romero, one of the genre's most influential acts. Their polished romantic style and Orozco's soaring voice produced a run of hits that modernized vallenato through the 1980s. After Orozco was murdered in 1992, Romero continued the group as Binomio de Oro de América, keeping the name a fixture of Colombian popular music. They remain one of vallenato's defining institutions.
