Über Anne-Marie Nzié

Anne-Marie Nzié was called the golden voice of Cameroon and recorded from the 1950s onward, long before most of the country's popular music reached vinyl. She sang in Ewondo, accompanying herself on Hawaiian guitar, and moved between church music, bikutsi and popular song. Her 1996 album Béza ba dzo, made for the French label Label Bleu, brought her to European audiences late in life. She died in Yaoundé in 2016 at eighty-four.
